[Biennale di Architettura 2021] 5 NOV. URBiNAT Partnership led by the University of Nova Gorica hosting workshop at Biennale 2021

Venice
November 5, 2021

November 5, 11am to 1pm CET

Within the framework of Biennale Sessions, special project for Universities, Academies and Higher Education Institutes  on the occasion of the 17th International Architecture Exhibition, the Biennale Architettura 2021, various aspects of the URBiNAT project will be presented by partners of the project during a special workshop hosted by the University of Nova Gorica, partner of URBINAT.

The URBiNAT HORIZON 2020-funded project, through the University of Nova Gorica, is hosting this workshop with a view to communicating its innovative approach in urban regeneration, with a focus on social housing neighbourhoods and taking the examples of its cities.

The Project focuses on public spaces and the co-creation, with citizens, of new social and nature-based relations within and between different neighbourhoods. Using a holistic approach, taking into account the full physical, mental and social well-being of citizens, URBiNAT aims to co-design and co-implement Healthy Corridors as an innovative and flexible nature-based solution (NBS), integrating different NBS emerging from community-driven design processes. The Healthy Corridor concept and strategy is based on the clustering of nature-based solutions that are selected in a process of co-design and co-creation with local residents.

The Healthy Corridor concept and strategy is based on the clustering of nature-based solutions that are selected in a process of co-design and co-creation with local residents. A Healthy Corridor is more than a piece of urban green infrastructure intended to improve the quality of the urban environment and mitigate climate risks. It is also a social and cultural infrastructure that has been co-created by citizens and stakeholders for the purpose of promoting the well-being of the community having a positive impact on health. In this sense, URBiNAT is working to extend the concept of nature-based solutions to integrate participatory solutions as well as solutions that relate to the social and solidarity economy.

This will also be the occasion to announce events that will be taking place in connection with Nova Gorica & Gorizia 2025, European Capital of Culture.

The event will be held inside Biennale, in the Arsenale complex, in the so called “Sala delle Armi”. For details click HERE
