Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in Budapest
We are delighted to announce that URBiNAT will be represented at the upcoming combined UNEP-WHO Ministerial Conference, addressing issues of environment and health, taking place from 5 – 7 July in Budapest.
A special panel will be addressing the role of Nature-based Solutions in countering the effects of the triple planetary crises of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. In this panel, the EU NBS Horizon research and innovation projects will be presented by Karin Zaunberger of the European Commission and by Thomas Andersson, representing URBiNAT and Task Force III on Governance, Business Models, and Financial Solutions.
Moreover, Thomas Andersson will be presenting joint work under way with URBiNAT scientific partner Marcel Cardinali, to be published by UNEP in 2024. The timing is excellent, since UNEP and WHO are just now making a particular effort to build a new understanding and highlight the opportunities brought about by NBS. A number of high-level consultations are thus ongoing, see for instance the upcoming UNEP events.
The team participating in this 7th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health will explore further in Budapest how to support that agenda.
