SuperBarrio is one of the 61 finalists of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Awards 2023.  From a pool of over 1450 submissions, a total of 61 projects have been chosen, illustrating the presence of remarkable, environmentally friendly, and inclusive initiatives across the European Union and the Western Balkans.

SuperBarrio was competing in Strand A “New European Bauhaus Champions”, devoted to existing and completed projects with clear and positive results, in the thematic category “Regaining a sense of belonging”.

SuperBarrio uses gamification strategies to engage the citizens in the design of the public space. The immersive 3D online tool is part of the URBiNAT NBS catalogue and has been used within the framework of URBiNAT to co-design the healthy corridors in Nantes, Porto and Sofia.

Users can visualize their neighborhoods in 3D, customize elements, and incorporate functions and services related to ecology, energy, mobility, leisure, and culture. As an open-source online tool, SuperBarrio widens the potential audience of participatory design processes, overcoming the limits of conventional methodologies.
