Emma Björner is a Researcher at Gothenburg Research Institute (GRI), the School of Business Economics and Law, Gothenburg University; Senior Lecturer at the Department of Strategic Communication, Lund University; and Senior Expert at the International Organisation for Knowledge Economy and Enterprise Development (IKED).
As a Researcher at Gothenburg University, Emma works in the research project The Role of Tourism in Multicultural Societies (TiMS) and studies sustainable tourism and how the plurality of places and destinations is communicated, represented and experienced. Emma is a member of the board and management group at GRI. At Gothenburg University, she is also a member of the Centre for Consumption Research, the Centre for Tourism, and the research programme Managing Big Cities. As a Senior Lecturer at Lund University she teaches brand culture, brand communication and professional practice in strategic communication. As a Senior Expert she works in the EU project URBiNAT, with a focus on citizen engagement, participatory processes, digital communication, and policy recommendations. Emma also gives lectures on marketing in China, place branding, and sustainable tourism.
